Information For Parents

AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE ABOUT HOW YOU AS A PARENT CAN CONTRIBUTE TO THE LONG TERM SUCCESS OF YOUR SON OR DAUGHTER’S MARRIAGE

“In what might be called the ‘My Big Fat Greek Wedding’ factor, this study finds that couples who have larger wedding parties are more likely to report high-quality marriages,” said W. Bradford Wilcox, director of the National Marriage Project and a professor of sociology at the University of Virginia. “One possibility here is that couples with larger networks of friends and family may have more help, and encouragement, in navigating the challenges of married life”

 at The Problem:

Pine Peaks Wedding and Event Center is very much committed to the “Wedding Ritual” as spelled out in this study. The problem is in today’s world in attempting to have a proper wedding event, are time and convenience. Almost all Wedding Venues offer a 16-hour experience. Arrive at 8: AM to decorate and be gone by midnight. Venues such as Hotels, Golf Courses, almost all of The Wedding Barns, and the new “Cookie Cutter Wedding Venues, book multiple Weddings over a weekend. The couple to be married and their families are rushed and forced to plan the weekend events based on traveling to different locations for the Rehearsal, Rehearsal Dinner, Ceremony, Reception, back to the hotel, Breakfast or Brunch the next day and the Gift opening ceremony.

The Rehearsal Dinner (Grooms Dinner) once a time-honored custom is now a source of frustration and potential danger for many wedding parties. Drive to one site for the Ceremony Rehearsal, another for the Rehearsal Dinner. Then drive home or to a hotel after a late night of celebrating.

The Wedding Ceremony and Reception are seldom at the same location. The Wedding Party and immediate family are rushing and under pressure on that day to get to the wedding venue early to decorate, then get ready and dressed, to drive to a different locations for the Ceremony and and then back to the Reception location and then drive home at the end of the day, of course, once the decorations are removed from the venue. Now wasn’t that fun?

The Pine Peaks Solution:

What if you and your child to be married about to embark on this Wedding Ritual could enjoy this experience over a multi-day period and all at the same location without rush. The Bride and Groom could check in early before the wedding with the wedding party and family members checking in anytime then or after. We have on-site lodging for 20 plus guests at our beautiful up north Retreat Lodge at Pine Peaks.

The long weekend would go like this:

Thursday
Check-in to Pine Peaks Wedding and Event Center and begin the process of preparing for the Wedding Ritual by decorating the Reception Hall using all of the wonderful decorations in Pine Peak’s Treasure Chest Room. In the spring, summer and fall months bring or rent a camper or motorhome and park on-site at one of Pine Peaks many RV parking pads complete with power, sewer, and water.

Friday
Once you are finished decorating you can go enjoy the beautiful Crosslake area and all that it has to offer year round. Shopping, sightseeing, fine dining, Golf, Boating, and bird watching. Did you know that Crosslake is about to become a bird watching sanctuary city and will be the location of the new National Loon Center? Then back to Pine Peaks Wedding Venue for a wedding rehearsal on-site at one of the several beautiful Wedding Ceremony gardens or in the overhead pavilion for winter ceremonies or inclement weather. Then an on-site DIY Rehearsal Dinner or choose from any of the local caterers. Finish the night at Pine Peaks Wedding and Event Center, a Private Country Estate.

Saturday
The Wedding Party can get ready on-site and the Bride and Bridesmaids have full use of the on-site Hair and Makeup Salon in the Retreat Lodge. The Groom and Groomsmen can use the Recreation Room with a Pool Table, Bar and Big Screen TV. Or go outside play lawn games, use the Wood Fired Sauna before being photographed on the beautiful grounds of Pine Peaks Wedding and Event Center. After the on-site Wedding Ceremony to officially begin the Wedding Ritual before up to 300 guests, the Cocktail Hour, and then the Grand March and Wedding Feast can begin.

Sunday
Sleep in and enjoy a mid-morning brunch.  How about a Gift Opening Ceremony in the afternoon at the on-site Retreat Lodge with family members and close friends?  Early on Sunday, the Pine Peaks team will be busy cleaning up the Event Center and setting up for the next Wedding Celebration for the following week.  Any items or decorations you bring will be set aside for you to pick up at your leisure when you check out on Sunday at 3pm.  Unfortunately, you must check out and go back to the real world.

Please read below what parents have to say about the Wedding Ritual experience at Pine Peaks Wedding and Event Center and contact Dave and Julie now……

Simply fantastic! Dave & Julie’s attention to detail is unmatched. Pine Peaks venue is superb…picturesque, phenomenal decorations, flexibility of setup. With 230 guests, the wedding went off without a hitch. We were thrilled to have all wedding events in one location from the groom’s dinner to the grandparent’s Sunday brunch following the wedding. As parents, we loved that the wedding party could celebrate in the retreat house without worrying about anyone driving. Special thanks to Maucieri’s for a superb dinner, JP for keeping the dance floor kicking, and Kelli Engstrom’s eye for gorgeous photos!

All they want to do there is make sure that you have a great experience, and keep the stress and concerns to a minimum. They succeeded! Do yourself a favor and schedule a site visit today!

Everyone should be so lucky to have their wedding and reception here! Julie and Dave go above and beyond to make your day perfect! Cannot thank them enough. Our day was wonderful!

Marlys Skogmo

Everything was perfect! The bride-to-be and groom-to-be met with Julie and Dave a few times prior to the big event. Then the bride-to-be and her mom (me) and her maternal grandparents arrived Wednesday. We were able to start setting up immediately.

Julie and Dave have an entire attic of wedding items. Carmen, the bride-to-be, found everything she needed to make her wedding venue exactly how she wanted it. And having the “cabin” (they had their entire wedding party stay there the weekend) was perfect: the kids could get ready, eat, and relax.

The day of the wedding was made perfect since all was done and everyone was very relaxed. Julie and Dave were around in case we had questions. One mishap: the dress malfunctioned but thanks to Julie it was quickly mended and all was set to go. Thank goodness Julie was there and had all the necessary equipment to mend!!!

I Have been in the Hospitality/ Wedding Industry, myself, for more then 35 years. So whenever I get to go to a special events for friends and family, I tend to go with a critical eye. I was honored to be asked, to make the cakes and cupcakes, for my nieces wedding on the 25th of Jan.  So when I had questions and needs, I called. From the moment I met Dave and Julie, on the phone, and then in person, I was so impressed with their willingness to make everything “wonderful” for our party. They are BOTH so friendly, helpful, insightful and professional. I truly hope I get to work with them again. The property is Breath-takingly BEAUTIFUL. inside and out. Julie has a magnificent sense of style and is full of wonderful ideas. Any bride will be benefited by her insight! I HIGHLY recommend Pine Peaks Event Center.

When thinking about what you want your wedding to be like, most would say a great time with family and friends and as stress free as possible. We just spent 4 days at Pine Peaks Event Center with 28 other family members staying in the on site lodge (under the same roof) and we have come away with only smiles. The weekend was amazing, from the moment we arrived. I tend to be a perfectionist when it comes to weddings and wanted my sister-in-law to have the day she dreamed of. I truly felt Dave & Julie wanted the same. Not once did they hesitate on a single request. I sent about a 3 page text to Dave the morning before the wedding, asking the list to be completed by 1pm the same day. He sent back one question to clarify and “it will be done by noon” – and it was! They went above and beyond my expectations on every detail. They were also a joy to be around!

On top of that, they have created a very unique and wonderful place to get married. The event center is close enough to town where everything needed is only a few minutes away, but feels so secluded. The location is beautiful! I grew up on a near by lake and loved watching the sun come up over the water. I must say – watching it come up over the fields is just as breathtaking. I left only once the entire weekend and was sad to leave on Sunday morning. I can not say enough about this location and the wonderful people that run it. What a gem.
